Winston Linwood VerHow comfortably went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2021.
He was in the care of his wonderful wife of 61-years, Mary VerHow, and surrounded by his family. Winston was born on October 9, 1942 to Kenneth VerHow and Beulah “DeHond” VerHow in Williamson, NY; where he and his seven siblings were raised on a small farm. On May 28, 1960, Winston married the love of his life, Mary. They went on to have five children (Vicki, Andy, Pam, Jeff, & Steve). Winston and Mary raised their children in New York until moving to Loveland, Colorado in 1971. In Colorado, Winston used his childhood passion to continue his career as a carpenter for Kodak which lasted for 27-years. He thoroughly enjoyed wood working and used his skills to build/remodel multiple homes and complete many projects. Colorado hobbies included riding ATV’s with the family, riding horses and teaching all the children to ride, was a 4-H leader where he taught carpentry and horse projects. In 2001, Winston and Mary moved to Montana where they enjoyed retirement by spending time with family, camping, and traveling to Arizona in the winter. They traveled to Arizona for 20-years and acquired numerous friends. Winston loved and cherished his family, friends and worshiping together in small churches wherever he was.
He will be remembered by his surviving family: wife, Mary (Cole) VerHow; children, Vicki (Kent)Tilstra, Andy (Marilyn) VerHow , Pam Cook, Steve VerHow; Grandchildren, Michelle Tilstra, Michael Tilstra, Brian (Janna) VerHow, Kristy VerHow, Bret (Connie) Carter, Shawna (Stacey) Lutgen, Keven (Samantha) Cook, Kimberly (Jesus) Vazquez, Justin (Libby) Greco, Lillian VerHow, Zachary VerHow; 13 wonderful great grandchildren; 2 wonderful great great grandchildren; siblings, Jocelyn Fairall and Marleigh Wood.
A service will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Mountain View Chapel in Twin Bridges followed by a reception at Sheridan Senior Center. Donations in Winston’s honor can be made to either Mountain View Chapel or the Sheridan Senior Center.
