Rolland Greggar Amundson, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday January 20, 2025 in Helena, Montana.
Rolland was born on November 17, 1928 to Cora Christensen and Ferdinand Amundson in Minneota, Minnesota. Rolland enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945 and served 24 honorable years.
Rolland was passionate about motorcycles, firearms, and common-sense living. After retiring from the Navy he became active in motorcross and flat track racing. Rolland also was an incredible marksman and gun enthusiast, well known in Montana for varmint hunting and extermination. He provided a valuable service in assisting cattle ranchers eliminate pesky gophers- Thank god for gophers!
Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, Cora Christensen and Ferdinand Amundson; brothers, Arlo Amundson, and Leonard Amundson; sisters, Laneda Stark, Vivian Pierce, and Sybill Amundson.
He is survived by his daughter, Laneda Carpenter; son-in-law, Craig Carpenter, and grandson, Alfred Paul Venancio III.
A celebration of Rolland's life will be held at a future date in spring or early summer. The family will provide celebration details at a later date.
