Born December 7, 1942, in Dillon MT to Harry and Doris (Rankin) Lawyer, passed away
in Missoula April 3, 2024, after a short illness.
Bob grew up in Twin Bridges on the family ranch. He graduated from Twin Bridges High
School. He went on to lead a very diverse life with the career paths he chose.
Working on the railroad in Idaho he met Bonnie Holverson and they married. He also
worked for Archway Potato Chip and Cookie deliveries while living in Wyoming. The
couple had 3 children, Robert, Royce and Doris. They later divorced.
Bob then moved to Reno NV where he met Gay Woodfin while he was working as a
security guard, parking manager and later he became a crap dealer. He and Gay
married and recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary.
Bob moved to Oregon with Gay where he built a log cabin for their home. He later sold
the cabin and moved back to Montana where he cowboyed for the Alaska Basin Stock
Association. He then decided to go to Cheyenne WY to attend A&P school at age 40,
the other students called him grandpa. After completing school, he moved to Lynchburg
VA to work on commuter planes, next he moved to Utah, then on to Boeing in Everett
WA and finally to Tulsa OK where he worked for American Airlines until his retirement.
At which time he moved back to Sheridan, MT, and built their home.
Bob loved to fish, hunt and to see the sites around the neighboring states. One favorite
trip was taking
their motorcycle on a trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains. He also loved his family
very much.
Bob was predeceased by his son Robert, his mother Doris, father Harry and stepmother
Margaret.
He is survived by his wife Gay, children Royce Lawyer and Doris (Dan) Brady, brother
Jim (Kathy) Lawyer, sister Leslie (Carson) Cox. 6 grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren.
There will be a family service at a later date. Memorials may be made to donor’s choice.
