Regina Helen Wittrock

February 22, 1932 — February 23, 2025

Peggy (Regina) Wittrock went home to be with Jesus on February 23, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Regina Helen Stockert, February 22, 1932, on the family farm near Buffalo Springs, North Dakota to Chris and Magdalena (Frank) Stockert. She was the second oldest of eight children.

When she turned 18, she was excited to explore the world and joined The White Horse Troupe, a Roman riding act, that traveled the country performing at fairs and rodeos. During these performances, she rode and jumped three white horses at once while standing on their backs with no saddles. After her Roman riding days, she desired to live a western lifestyle and moved to Montana to work on guest ranches.

In 1957, she married Jim Humiston in West Yellowstone, Montana. While married they had two children, Vickie and Wade. Sadly, in 1967 Jim passed away in a boating accident leaving her a young single mother. She later married Lee Wittrock and was married for 46 years until he passed away. While married to Lee, their daughter Brenda, was born.

One of her greatest loves was that of her horses which grew into her passion for barrel racing and participating in rodeos. In the early years, she traveled the PRCA rodeo circuit, barrel raced in the Senior Pro Rodeo, and later in the National Barrel Horse Association. She was highly competitive and loved traveling with her horses up until she was 80 years old. During this 50 year life span, she won numerous awards, buckles and saddles.

Throughout her entire life, she loved music and singing. On Sundays, she could be found playing her guitar and singing as part of the worship team during church services. Not only did she play on worship teams during church services, but she also organized and conducted cowboy church services at rodeos. With that being said, the one thing she loved in life more than anything was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will always be remembered for having a direct line to God through her prayers as a prayer warrior for those she loved.

She spent her final years living in Ovando with her daughter Vickie and son-in-law Ben. She loved sitting outside by the creek listening to the birds and watching her beloved cat Missy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Christopher and Magdalena Stockert; brothers, Jerome Stockert, Leonard Stocker, Floyd Stockert, and Archie Stockert; sister, Mary Parker; and husbands, Jim Humiston and Lee Wittrock.
