Dale Tucker passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 6th, just a month shy of his 92nd birthday. The oldest of nine children, Dale was born in Denver, Colorado, and moved at the age of 9 with his family to California. He attended school in Los Angeles before working at several thoroughbred horse farms. Dale joined the Army in 1953 and spent time on Okinawa. At the end of his enlistment, Dale attended Cal Poly, Pomona, on the G.I. bill. He graduated with a Major in Agricultural Business Management.
Dale met the love of his life, Rhea, in his senior year of college. They were married for 64 years and together they raised seven children. Dale was a devout Catholic who lived out his faith and raised his children in the church. Upon retirement, Dale and Rhea moved to Ennis, Montana.
He had many interests. Growing up, he wanted to be a cowboy and he kept horses in his life whenever he could. He loved to fly-fish, as well as archery, golf, and skiing. Along with his brother, Dave, he often went backpacking as part of his summer vacations. Dale loved to paint and participated in several quick draws in Virginia City. Always willing to learn something new, Dale learned log home building and built the home that Dale and Rhea shared in Ennis. Their home was a true sense of pride and accomplishment for Dale. He also loved to teach and share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen.
Dale was a loving husband and devoted family man. He was a loyal friend and an inspiration to many.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Ruth Yvonne Tucker, as well as his parents, in-laws, and four of his siblings. Dale leaves behind his wife and six children along with their spouses, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four siblings, and many nephews and nieces. His family will miss him dearly.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Dale's name to National Right to Life or 40 Days for Life.
A funeral mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Ennis, Montana, followed by interment at Ennis Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories at the Ennis Rodeo grounds after the cemetery.
