Kathryn Louise Flick of Sheridan passed to her heavenly home July 16, 2021. Kathy was born in Los Angeles, Calif. to Charles and Melba McCoy. In 1950 Kathy married her high school sweetheart William C. “Bill” Flick. In 1959 they moved to San Diego were they lived for 19 ½ years and raised their four children. Kathy made life-long friends from school days through retiring to Sheridan, Montana. While in San Diego Kathy attended San Diego State and earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. They lived briefly in Nevada before Bill’s retirement in 1983 where they fulfilled a long time desire to live in Sheridan where Bill was born. In Montana Kathy was finally able to realize her dream to teach. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Alder School until her retirement in 1990. She and Bill enjoyed many happy years camping and travelling to visit family and friends throughout the country. She was a beloved and active member of the Sheridan community volunteering her time and serving in various roles at Bethel Methodist Church and Patchwork Pals Quilt Guild. She organized blood drives for over two decades and was instrumental in launching Ready Set Grow Preschool serving on the board for many years. After Bill’s death in 2009 Kathy continued to travel and enjoyed many group trips throughout the US and Canada. Kathy enjoyed her quilting hobby and donated a number of quilts for charitable causes.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Kenneth, husband, son Donald, sister Charlene and niece Laura. She is survived by her son Douglas (Barbara) of La Mesa, CA; daughter-in-law Karen Flick of Hammond, LA; daughters Karen (John) Miller of Alder and Diane (Jim) Kaatz of Sheridan; 9 grandchildren, Emily Maska, Jennifer Lockwood, Elaine Gregory, Ryan Van Hook, William Flick, Bryce Kaatz, Kylie Fulbright, Calder Kaatz and Courtney Newell; and 18 great-grandchildren, Dominick, Kaitlyn, Daniel, Maddie, Nyah, Grant, Finley, Carys, Willa, Harper, Charlotte, Asher, Dillon, Eloise, Jackson, Grant, Quinn, and Orsen; several nieces and nephews; and special San Diego friends. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be a private family service at the Sheridan Cemetery. There will be a memorial service in celebration of her life on September 11, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Garden in Sheridan. A catered lunch will be provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Ruby Valley Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 564, Sheridan, MT 59749.
