Hope Mommer

September 26, 1921 — October 10, 2024

Sheridan

Hope Montana Seyler Cushman Mommer was born on September 26, 1921 on her father and mothers (W.B. and Beatrice Seyler) ranch on the banks of the Ruby River. She left this earthly realm on October 10, 2024 at the Tobacco Root Mountain Care Center at the age of 103.

She worked alongside her dad helping care for the garden, hay fields, and animals on the ranch. She had two brothers, but spent lots of time with the animals and had lots of unusual pets and stories. She could imitate the sound of any of them.

Hope attended the Twin Bridges schools and that is where she met her future husband Paul Cushman. She went to beauty school in Butte, graduating and setting up a beauty shop in Twin Bridges. She married Paul when she was 20 years old. They had two children, Bill and Tana. She kept books for their business Cushmans Service, and later worked at the Montana States Children Center, keeping track of the childrens accounts until in closed in 1976. She then went to work at another state agency in Helena until the Cushmans sold their business. Sadly, Paul died at the early age of 57 years. Hope did marry again to an Iowa farmer. They traveled and cherished both of their grandkids giving lots of happy memories to those they loved.

Russ helped Hope research and complete her book "Look out West! Here comes Robert Dempsey,1848-1908" telling the story of her great grandfather and contributing to local history. Russ spent the last years of his life at TRMCC.

She is survived by both of her children, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many loved friends.

She requested that no memorial service be conducted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tobacco Root Mountain Care Center or theSheridan Senior Citizens.

We honor her legacy by living in purpose, carrying forward with the strength, grace, andbrilliance that she gifted us.

We trust that her presence will always be felt in our hearts and the good earth beneath our feet.
