Brian Keith Smith Sr.

Brian Keith Smith of Boulder passed away at the age of 56 on Oct. 28, 2022. He was born in Olympia, Washington on Sept. 18, 1966. He was predeceased by his mother Peggy Martin, his sister Kimberly Smith and his brother-in-law Robert Fisher. He was a caring, loving father to Brian Smith, Sierra Smith and Justin Smith as well as a grandfather to Easton Smith and Jaxon Smith.

He was survived by his siblings Mike Mellor, Tammy Fisher and Lisa Carrizales and numerous other amazing family members. He had a stepfather, Grant Reed, in whom he considered his real father and loved very much. He loved his workplace at Hardware Hank. He enjoyed all the people and was especially fond of his friend and boss Cory. He would always say, “Cory is such a great person to work with and so easy-going.”

Many of the people around Boulder would remember Brian as the “smiling jokester” behind the counter at the local hardware store, where he would help you with your household problems. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help somebody out in any way he could.

During the holidays he would religiously bring a plate of food to those who couldn’t leave their homes.

Family was his world. He always wanted everyone to get together every holiday, especially Christmas, just so he could watch and enjoy people opening his gifts. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing guitar, taking drives in the mountains, riding his 4 Wheeler with friends and family, going to the lake to drive around in the boat, glance at the beautiful scenery around him and play with his dogs Chief and Jake.

Our fondest memories were of his passion for fishing, how well he taught us and how patient he was while doing so. He was loved by his friends and family as well as the community, and he will always be in our thoughts and prayers. We hope you are up there, Dad, catching all the lunkers in your “better place.”

Memorial services will be held on May 20, 2023 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
