Ann E. Mainwaring

April 7, 1939 — May 28, 2022

Ann Ellen Mainwaring of Pony, Montana passed away at her home on May 28th, surrounded by family.

Ann was born April 7th 1939 in Ronan, Montana to Richard and Ellen Mitchell. She grew up in Stevensville, Montana. She was the third oldest of 7 children.

Ann was a waitress, nurse’s aide and helped raise her younger brothers and sister. When she was a young lady she met the love of her life, George Mainwaring. They were married July 25, 1959 and had 60 adventurous years together.

Ann was a woman of many talents, to include waitressing, a self-made business woman and a care giver.

In the early years of her marriage she cooked for the ranch hands at the various ranches George worked on. When they moved to Pony she started working as a waitress at the truck stop outside of Cardwell.

She started learning the upholstery trade which allows her to be home for her family and continued for two decades until her health prevented her from continuing. She was widely known for her skills in upholstery.

As a care giver she took care of many family and friends. From taking them to appointments, cleaning homes and helping with their basic needs.

She was also known for her homemade maple bars, cinnamon rolls and homemade root beer. She also learned the art of making hand lotion, which has saved many hands.

Ann loved to volunteer at the Rice ranch annual livestock sale. She was also a member and president of the Ladies Auxiliary.

She and the other ladies sent many care packages to the men and women of the Armed Forces. They also made blankets for the men and women at the VA hospital in Helena.

She hosted many pinochle parties with the ladies of Pony and Harrison.

But most of all she was a caring, loving wife and mother.

Ann is survived by her daughter Ellen (Nick) Keaster, sons Chuck (Joan) Mainwaring, George Mainwaring and Terry Mainwaring. Two sisters and two brothers, 10 Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren. Also many nieces and nephews.

She loved them all to the moon and back
