Dad lost his battle with cancer on October 8, 2021, in the comfort of his home at Pony, MT, where his daughter Dena took care of him. In his final day he was surrounded by family and friends.
Dave was born to Arthur and Elsie Halvorson on January 4, 1937, in Wadena, Minnesota. He was the eldest of four children and leaves behind sisters Nancy Ballou and Sandra Vanover and brother Allen Halvorson. He married Donna Branstetter on May 9, 1960. They had 6 children, Cheryl (Casey) Meadows, Mike (Heidi) Halvorson, Dena Halvorson, Marcie Halvorson, Darren (the late Sandra) Halvorson, Brian (Betty) Halvorson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He later met Bertha Runnion and they moved to Pony. Together they had many beloved pets and left behind Wilbur. Bertha passed on October 3, 2021.
The Halvorson family lost their patriarch. The Town of Pony lost a legend. Antelope was a staple to the Pony community and had many local friends whom he called family.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Father’s Day weekends were always reserved for a family get together camping at Canyon Ferry where there were fish fries and dad’s campfire stories.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bertha, daughter-in-law Sandra, his dog children Benji, numerous Wilburs and his best buddy Leroy. He was survived by his children and Wilbur, his sisters and brothers, buddies Ronnie Todd, Buck, Frank, Doug(senior liner), Eddie (junior liner), Scotty, George, John Culbertson, the Debuff brothers, and the McCormicks.
He will forever “BE IN THE AREA”.
